Faux Paint Techniques and Finishes from The World of Slap and Stipple!

Are YOU ready to increase the value of your property with low or no cost tricks of the trade…

Traditional step-by-step instructions on 12 different easy to follow paint techniques including:

1. Cracked Ice – A cracked glazed finish ideal for uneven surfaces, door panels and furniture.

2. Rag Rolling – Rag rolling is used on walls to provide interesting texture, depth and dimension.

3. Colour Washing – Colour washing has an alluring worn look, giving it a charm that works with a wide range of decorating styles, from modern to classical. Colour washing is also ideal for use over imperfect or slightly damaged walls, as the subtly textured finish draws the eye and helps to hide imperfections.

4. Stippling – Stippling gives new surfaces an elegant, aged look. While most methods of faux painting hide imperfections on the wall surface, stippling actually highlights them. It is best done on surfaces in excellent condition.

5. Dragging – Dragging (otherwise know as Drag Finish) produces thin, vertical stripes on the wall. It works best on wood panelling or a smooth wall surface.

6. Rubber Combing – When it comes to painting techniques, combing is the process of dragging a rubber comb through a wet paint glaze to create a pattern.

7. Herringbone – Herringbone will create texture to your painting surface. The dry brushing technique will give a faint or muted colour to your surface.

8. Lattice Work -Delicate and intricate work ideal for accentuating wooden panels and below dado rails.

9. Hand Mottling – This subtle blending of colours is one of the easiest and most popular techniques to achieve a mottled look with glaze.

10. Shand Kidd -Building on the dragging technique, this produces further dimension and depth leaving behind a elegant finish, great for all kinds of surfaces.

11. Tiffany – A Lustrous paint effect  that is ostentatious, glamorous and dazzles like a period Hollywood screen set.

12. Stenciling – The Decorative effect stenciling, traces its roots as far back as Egyptian times. Now stenciling has developed from a simple pattern repeat, to sophisticated and colourful design elements, rich with decorative symbolism.
